The UNSC Deceiver (FFG-638) is the lead ship of a developing line of advanced stealth frigate in the UNSC Navy, later used by both the Dominion of Covert Coordinations and (at times) the Legionary Alliance Clan as both an exploration vessel and reconnaissance warship.

During the war between humanity and the Covenant, the UNSC had conceptualized many prototype designs for future warships using not only salvaged Covenant technology, but also excavated Forerunner relics of use. The plan was to use both faction's unique achievements (active camo, energy shielding, ect.) on human-based vessels to counter any extraterrestrials threats like the Covenant and more beyond. One of these line of prototype ships was a new class of stealth frigates constructed by the REAP-X department, capable of cloaking their hull from visual and scan detection. These prototype support ships, classified as Deceiver-class Stealth Frigates, were first deployed shortly before the war's end, where the seven-constructed frigates successfully countered a small Covenant Loyalist splinter fleet from striking the independent colony of Venezia, even though the colonists showed very little gratitude for the service.

One of the first new class of ships manufactured by the Homunculus Terrestrial-Orbital Shipyards, the Deceiver has been used as a prototype for further advances in stealth technology in use by warships, and has since been utilized by the Dominion of Covert Coordination's director, Spartan Theron. Since its conscription with the Headhunter, the Deceiver has performed over twenty successful covert-ops deployments, as well as a number of hit-and-run operations against both Insurrectionist terrorists and Covenant remnants: zero-personnel casualities during all ops. Sometime afterwards, Theron had come to a number of agreements with one Uhze 'Nostrom, the Sangheili leader of the Legionary Alliance Clan, one of which was the neutral agreement of equal use of the Deceiver between the DCC's Headhunters and the L.A.C.'s mixed warriors for their own purposes, as long as it doesn't involve the possible compromise of both the ship and either group's soldiers on their missions.

The UNSC Deceiver bears a strong resemblance to one of the UNSC's newest frigates, the Strident-class Heavy Frigate, a bight slightly smaller and features a lighter hull color and a few alterations to his shape, as well as still retaining the classic MAC gun as its primary weapon. It also possesses similar armaments except for half the missiles: being a stealth ship, the need for multiple missiles would decrease its purpose for stealth. Its only true heavy weapons are its modified heavy MAC mixed with a bit of Covenant/Forerunner technology and four prototype "GUNGNIR" directed cannons very similar to the Spartan Laser arsenal, capable of burning through energy shielding and cutting away into another ship's hull with ease. Over heavy weapons, it relies on prototype energy shielding and active camouflage to pass right through blockades and avoid detection from enemy scans. Like the Charon-class, this frigate is fitted with a large, two-level hanger area used to store and transport necessary equipment and vehicles during missions: the top floor features two hanger doors used to launch its escort wing of three Broadswords in low atmosphere or in the void during combat ops, with the flooring also acting as an elevator to the second floor, mostly used to store ground-based vehicles and free-time training between soldiers. Below the main MAC is a launch station referred to as the "tongue", where docked Broadswords and Pelicans are transferred to from the main hanger and lifted up towards the retractable blast-door via integrated gravity lift, and then can launch out of the mouth in the middle of firefights or quick drop-offs. Of its stealth technology, its most used form are the panels planted across its hull that have two functions: they are capable of either shifting into mirroring panels to allow the ship to blend in to its surroundings or can be used to generate a powerful cloaking field around the entire ship, much like ONI Prowlers use. While its small size, advance speed, striker weapons, and unique components and technology make it seem ideal for use as an escort vessel to much larger capital ships, Deceiver-class Frigates, most notably the Disturbed, are more frequently used as spec-ops ships used for high-demanding covert missions and capable of quick and quiet deployments and pick-ups from orbit and planet-side: even if caught in a dogfight, a Deceiver Frigate is capable of holding its own against even against the heaviest of Covenant Cruisers, and can easily take on an entire task force of Light Cruisers or even a single Corvette or Frigate.
