    Xiro Kai, Edge Dynast, also known as the "Sword of Xivu Arath", is a powerful Ascendant Hive Knight and one of Xivu Arath's own children and great champions among their Hive armies.  Master of the Flames of War, a sect of burning Hive warriors and towering Swordbearers completely loyal to her, Xiro Kai leads into battle with her burning Cleaver hungering for Light and life to feed its wielders, both the current and former.

    Born sometime after the Hive's victory over the Leviathan and Ammonites, Xivu Arath bore a cluster of six pupae, as part of a bizarre trial of survival to gain herself a true child of her blood to grow into a new commander to lead her armies.  Upon their beginnings as Thrall, one of these children, the eldest female, would prove her worth in the eyes of her mother.  As a Thrall, she clawed out the eyes of the second youngest of her brothers.  When she became an Acolyte, she immediately gouged out the eyes of the second oldest brother.  Upon evolving into a power-hungry Knight, she stole an ancient Cleaver from her mother's personal weapons cache and carved it through her eldest brother.  With her newfound strength, she persuaded her younger sister, now a Wizard, to aid in transforming their youngest and only surviving brother from a lowly Thrall into a fearsome Ogre, and with much effort through a dark and twisted ritual, the two bared Sultrinauk, Hell's Hunger: she split her sister's head in half immediately afterwards, leaving herself and her mindless and ravenous beast-of-a-brother all that remained from their brood.  Having proven herself through these trials of siblicide, Xivu Arath embraced this nameless knight as her daughter and gave her the only gift she would ever receive from her, in the form of her name: Xiro Kai, meaning "Unlike Xi Ro" in their tongue, now bound to fight as the Sword of Xivu Arath, and tasked to become her mother's most powerful warrior, forced to take power rather than to be handed it, such was the way her mother started, and how she now bears the name.

    When Oryx returned from the Darkness and laid waste upon his treacherous sisters, he punished both to ensure their attempts on him in his realm would be null-void; rather than inflict his wrath upon Xivu Arath directly, he chose to use her daughter as the means of revenge and proving a point.  Rather than give his eldest niece the "privilege" of being Taken, he utilized the Wizards of his Court and cast a curse upon Xiro Kai; corrupting the very Light they had sworn to extinguish from the universe, the Light was infused to Xiro Kai's armor, setting her body ablaze and partially blinding her 'til all those she saw were aflame while the tribute she would offer her mother would now be tainted by poisonous Light, and only through constant bloodshed could this curse be dulled.  Initially, the pain of the Light melding her armor to her flesh was almost too much for her to take, but if it was conflict Oryx wanted, then conflict would be all she would give him; in a fit of berserk and rage, Xiro Kai began slaughtering several of Oryx's warriors, the bloodlust lathering her pain with cooling ecstasy while her armor continued to blaze, for now she sought to spite her uncle by accepting this curse and master its pain and deciding to take on this new power not as her inflicted curse, but as a stolen gift.  To this end, Oryx called upon his Warpriest to put down his niece and end any further retribution from his sister, but this ultimately proved to be another mistake; in an unbelievable act of fate, Xiro Kai plunged her Cleaver into the Warpriest's chest, "killing" an Ascendant Hive warrior and stealing his hidden power for herself as her body and armor together began changing shape and form fit for burning royalty.  No longer simply the Sword of Xivu Arath, Xiro Kai, now Ascendant by right and nearing godhood like her family, had become the Edge Dynast, her Cleaver now sharpened by an eternal flare and christened Searing Enmity, her final testament towards her uncle.

    From the fall of the Ecumene to the destruction of the Harmony, Xiro Kai had led alongside her mother and their armies as a radiant flare of rage in the battlefield, tearing and burning through their enemies to feed their Worms' appetite, and whe Xivu Arath decided to depart from Oryx's rule, Xiro Kai stayed by her mother's side to lead the Flames of War.  Eons later, during a conflict somewhere against the Cabal, Xivu Arath sensed her brother's departure from the material realm.  Feeling a mix of satisfaction and dread by her brother's disappearance, Xivu Arath ordered her daughter to investigate the whereabouts of Oryx's Dreadnaught and uncover the mystery of his vacancy from the universe; those who they find along the way would be slain by the Flames of War and their fleet of Warships and Tombships.  It's now currently suggested that Xiro Kai and her Flames of War are nearing the Solar System, bringing with them a storm in the making for the Guardians in their path.

    Xiro Kai's overall appearance is much like that of Ecthar, Sword of Oryx, albeit with a radiant red burn across her armor and closer in size to her younger cousin Crota, Son of Oryx.  Her very presence gives off a mix of ash and shadow, as her armor gives her a reddening glow of heat and Darkness.  While possessing the base abilities of most Hive gods, hers are more focused on combining the power of the Darkness with Solar energies, engulfing her foes in a wave of shadow and hellfire.  Her weapon of choice is her Solar-infused Cleaved, Searing Enmity, which is capable of taking off over two-thirds of a Guardian's health with one swipe at close-range: in her Ascendant Realm, however, she has bound her own soul to her weapon, having turned it into her own Oversoul, which starts by sending down a rainfall of sparks before plunging the blade into the ground to raise hell all across her domain, scorching the field from above and below to ensure no being of the Light may live it.
