Specimen-X

And here it is: my MUTO MOC, now givne a bit of a makeover to make it both a homage of the upcoming monster and my own new beastie based on some of my other favored beasties.

The origins of the creature, designated "Specimen-X" remain a mystery to this day. While some believe it to be the sole survivor and living fossil of a prehistoric predator species, there's been no evidence in the fossil record to say it existed on this planet, adding to other claims that this lone beast is, in reality, not of this world.  What is known is that Specimen-X was discovered from in an iceberg several decades ago in an elongated state of hibernation. The freezing "cocoon", initially five meters in height, was transported to a high-classified facility for further studies and analysis; the body was kept in a cooled environment to further ensure it remains in its slumber during the years of progress understanding this creature.

Beneath a protective layer of keratin-like shelling, Specimen-X had shown evidence of being something like an invertebrate/reptile hybrid, showing similarities to some of today's life from cockroaches, ants and mantises to even a number of lizards, though it's unlikely that this lone specimen is the ancestor of these creatures, especially on how far off they are on the timeline to be related. Further evidence of Specimen-X being an extraterrestrial comes from traces of radiation in its blood, much more than most creatures native on this world; its possible that is feeds off of radiation as a form of sustenance alongside hunting live prey. Believing this creature to be some kind of predator, the scientists and military officials who discovered Specimen-X planned on genetically engineering it to become their own monster-killer, what with the issues of other large monstrosities already native on this world and wreaking havoc in the past. Through decades of modifying its genetics, integrating control modules in its sytems, and sustaining it with additional radiation in its slumber, Specimen-X began evolving at a rapid pace, growing nearly four times its original size by the beginning of the new millennium.

When a number of "kaiju" attacks occurred almost simultaneously and our efforts to thwart them with our military efforts almost seemed to fail, it became clear we would need a new means to defend ourselves: thus, experts looked towards awakening Specimen-X and place full control on it to our military efforts. The science and military divisions activated the wake-up process by injecting a heated serum in its bloodstream, allowing the ice on its shelled surface and warming its body until it reached its state of awareness, but what happened next wasn't expected by our experts: upon its revival, Specimen-X's roar gave off a form of EMP that short-circuited the systems around it and even most of the control modules in its body as it began breaking out of its shell. Free of its restraints, Specimen-X tore through its facility until breaking out into the oceanside, disappearing beneath massive waves and foreshadowing the coming chaos. This wasn't the last we heard or seen of Specimen-X; upon all systems reacivating, the tracking devices inside its systems helped us keep tabs on its whereabouts. As of this point, its existence is kept secret from the rest of the world, as are all other "kaiju" beasts out there.

Extensive experiments show that Specimen-X is a multiped with a number of limbs for different functions: two long forelimbs ending with bulbous palms with scythe-like claws act as the main support, two midlimbs with thinner claws as additional support, two three-toed hindlegs for main locomotion, and four smaller clawed limbs to its chest may be used for latching onto prey or defense against other predators. Its head features two pincer-like mandibles that can stretch out from their place to grasp onto food and drag into its dual-jawed maw. Studies show that sections of its body, namely hollow parts of its claws, sails and "eye crests", are bioluminescent with a red glow and give off thermal radiation spikes when blood flushes into these sections, giving it a menacing red glow possibly used to frighten predators. Though not initially showing any signs of reproductive systems, it's believed that Specimen-X could be hermaphroditic once it develops further on, though it's more commonly designated as a female with possible evidence on its tail of a developing ovipositor. Specimen-X also appears to develop a natural metamorphosis that allows its body to adapt and evolve into a number of formes to further ensure its survival on this new world of its.



Specimen-X is heavily based on the new MUTO monsters as well as a number of other kaiju and creatures including Orga, Destroyah, Hedorah, and even the Xenomorph Queen, all belonging to their rightful owners.
